Description : তপোসী মাছের তুন্ড বর্ধিত এবং মাথা ছোট।স্পষ্ট বড় মুখ।দেহ সাধারণত সোনালী রঙের কিন্তু কখনও কখনও পেছন সবুজাভ এবং পেট রূপালী রঙের হয়ে থাকে।পুচ্ছ পাখনা গভীরভাবে বিভক্ত এবং বৃত্তাকার আইঁশ বিদ্যমান।
