Description : Golden barb is an elongated bodied fish with a slightly longer upper jaw.Body of this species is reddish-brown.A black band is present anterior to the base of caudal fin while a less distinct one being posterior to the fin's base.Large black spot is present at the base of anterior dorsal rays.Bases of pelvic and anal fins are stained with black spots.During breeding season,dorsal and caudal fins along with the posterior part of body become red and orange.
